Additional info. a handsome daysailer based on the herreshoff 12 1/2, but modified for a centerboard. the "12" refers to the waterline length.... designed by joel white. An able and useful fast boat. not only will haven be a useful little craft for use after the war but she would be an excellent kind of boat to use in air craft rescue service. the draft is little, the speed high and ability to keep going in rough water assured. also the construction is simple and rugged.. There is certainly no other boat that offers the performance under sail and ease of construction of a sharpie. developed in southern new england as workboats, their speed, shallow draft, easy handling, and quick construction caused sharpies to quickly spread along the atlantic coast..
